March 2023 Newsletter

Greetings and salutations lovely peeps

In doing research for my newsletter; what have I been noticing this month?….. a theme began to appear in articles, newsletters and video and music clips.

I’ve been talking for a while about our thoughts and feelings and how they affect our health. How changing our perspective, the way we think, the way we react to an experience changes our health, our life, everything. So this month I bring you the views of a variety of people, well known and not as well known.

I was excited to find this article in the Well Being Journal by Shannon McRae, PhD (1938-2021) that echoes my own views.

"......anxiety, stress, and depression; so many different reasons have created physical ills in people’s bodies, and, as we have learned from science, physical illness begins in the thoughts and emotions, and if not remedied or changed there, then the physical body begins to exhibit the beginning of illness.”

“Physical illness and repetitive negative thinking may be the most common causes of depression and the most important to first examine.

“Many people don’t realize that the thoughts they are thinking cause them to have immediate emotional reactions. A simple habit of thought, such as reliving an uncomfortable memory, anticipating negative outcomes, or obsessing about a relationship challenge, can cause depression if the habitual thought goes on for a while.”

“Another cause of depression can be from thoughts of concern about a physical illness. Often a person may even just have a nebulous feeling about something unbalanced that they can’t quite define. It’s far better to talk to your body and tell it how you want it to feel than it is to focus on how you don’t want it to feel based on current ills. I perceive varying degrees of depression in almost everyone who calls. I nevertheless begin each session by remaining open with clients, meaning I do not judge or criticize anyone, but rather want to know how I can help.”

And a self help technique….

“……..she had also begun recording her positive thoughts in a journal and doing self-forgiveness work, which is essential, as forgiveness of self and then others opens up blockages [in tissue, organs and energy for healing to begin] …… ”

And…. A few things we can do to help family, friends and those around us.

“Everyone needs encouragement, a hug, positive input, a nice pat on the back or even a big smile, any of which can change one’s outlook on life.”

I had a client who had this to say about her insights into her symptoms and life. “I have been suffering from fibromyalgia for over 20 years and have tried all mechanical therapies available to relieve my condition with varying degrees of success. Within three sessions with Patricia I have found that my symptoms have reduced dramatically and my outlook on life has changed beyond all recognition. Her gentle and understanding approach have helped me gain insight into my condition and produced results far beyond my expectations.” Giving the body, mind, emotions and spirit time and a place to be calm and relaxed is a powerful beginning to any healing and maintaining that in odd moments or chunks of time during the day allows adrenalin to reduce and the whole body to come into a place where proper function can be restored.

Another example of changing of changing perspective. A friend and fellow therapist, Rhona Bryne, wrote this book, about her experience of healing from cancer. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Healing-Cancer-Without-Drugs-Time-ebook/dp/B079DGPYCR

Quote

“Each of our cells is a living entity, and the main thing that influences them is our blood.

If I open my eyes in the morning and my beautiful partner is in front of me,

my perception causes a release of oxytocin, dopamine, growth hormones -

all of which encourage the growth and health of my cells. But if I see a saber tooth tiger,

I'm going to release stress hormones which change the cells to a protection mode.

People need to realize that their thoughts are more primary than their genes,

because the environment, which is influenced by our thoughts, controls the genes.”

~Bruce H. Lipton

The Biology of Belief – Bruce Lipton PhD

Another book that I read about 10 years ago that completely changed how I thought about health and healing.

This is a synopsis of the book which is well worth reading.

The Biology of Belief, Bruce Lipton’s seminal book on the relationship between mind and body that changed the way we think about our lives, our health, and our planet. During that time, research in this field has grown exponentially – Lipton’s groundbreaking experiments have now been endorsed by more than a decade of rigorous scientific study. In this greatly expanded edition, Lipton, a former medical school professor and research scientist, explores his own experiments and those of other leading-edge scientists that have unravelled in ever greater detail how truly connected the mind, body, and spirit are. It is now widely recognized that genes and DNA do not control our biology. Instead, they are controlled by signals from outside the cell, including energetic messages emanating from our thoughts. This profoundly hopeful synthesis of the latest and best research in cell biology and quantum physics puts the power to create a healthy, joyous life back in our own hands. When we transform our conscious and subconscious thoughts, we transform our lives, and in the process help humanity evolve to a new level of understanding and peace.

These are extraordinary times of great change - things that were once stable are no longer stable. Things we thought impossible now seem possible
