Newsletter August 2022

Greetings and salutations lovely peeps

I hope you had as lazy, hazy and crazy days of summer (“Those days of soda and pretzels and beer”) as I have. I’m not saying that summer is over. I’m just beginning to have that ‘back to school’ feeling and I’m looking towards planning for September and preparing for Autumn. Autumn is a transition month sandwiched between summer and winter and it’s a time to begin to change our food from cold salads to warming porridge, soups, stews and curries. A time for more layers of clothing and also to keep moving/exercising, even if you don’t ‘feel’ like it. Your immune system has had a summer boost so keep it robust with a good warm diet and fermented, probiotic and prebiotic-rich foods, and keep your mood robust and positive by staying social, journaling, meditation and your favourite self-help therapy. Remember toothat smiling can benefit your health, boosting your immune system by boosting infection-fighting antibodies and immune cells. This way, you become more resistant to illnesses and infections. And having a regular, season change therapy, like CST maintains your health and well-being too – balancing all body systems and helping release tension and stress.

CST this month

This month I’ve seen a lot of neck, lower back and migraines and serial headaches. CST is a reliable and gentle therapy for those conditions and I always have happy clients leaving my therapy room.

In support of my experience, I found a December 2019 study of CST for chronic pain. “Chronic pain disorders are the leading global cause of disability and are still increasing in prevalence. Low back and neck pain, headache and migraine considerably affect all age groups from the beginning of adolescence to middle-aged and older adults. The often limited effects and potential side effects of pharmacological treatments for chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions may be reasons why patients frequently use complementary therapies. Among them, CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a typically requested treatment for complaints of the back and neck, headache and migraine, and associated stress-related and mental health problems.” And for you that means we can do something about your chronic pain.

“According to Chinese and ancient Ayurvedic medicine, at age 60, women end their householder life and begin to develop their souls. Our fertility stops being about having children and starts being about what we create for ourselves that benefits us and the people around us.”

― Christiane Northrup, Goddesses Never Age: The Secret Prescription for Radiance, Vitality, and Well-Being

In a recent newsletter Susan Steiner said this (and I could not put it better myself):

“To thrive, and not just survive, is fundamental to facing the days ahead. It is pivotal to finding grace in hardship. For the last five months, (...and two years) we have all faced the unknown. We each cope with these challenges in our own way. Thriving through adversity is a very personal path.”

Perhaps, like me, you’re interested in thriving and moving forward robust and well in every way. And with this in mind I will be offering a Women's Circle on the third Saturday of the month for women to gather together and explore their feminine wisdom, tell their stories and heal their trauma.

Moving gracefully into autumn my wish is that we all discover a deep sense of peace.
